CIV E 632 - COMPUTATIONAL HYDRAULICS AND HYDROLOGY
SPRING 2006
HOMEWORK No. 3

Develop a computer program to calculate the three- and four-point variable-parameter Muskingum-Cunge method of flood routing. Use VPMC3, VPMC4, MVPMC3 and MVPMC4. Set the error tolerance at 0.001 (the difference between trial and calculated discharge in the four-point method).

Test your program using the example of Homework No. 2. Compare the results of the three- and four-point methods, both conventional and modified, for peak flow, time to peak, and percentage mass conservation. Use time interval Δt = 6 hr, and space interval Δx = 25 mi.
