  1. Derive the C3 lateral-inflow routing coefficient. First derive the Muskingum routing equation with lateral inflow, see Appendix I of Ponce's  paper.

  2. The design of the La Leche dam in Peru requires an asessment of reservoir sedimentation. Perform a sensitivity analysis to assess the design life of the reservoir, using three levels of possible turbidity: 1, 3, and 5 kg/m3.

The reservoir volume is 64 hm3. The drainage area at the damsite is 907.36 km2. The mean annual discharge is 6.44 m3/s. The specific weight of sediment deposits is 13,000 N/m3. Assume the worst-case scenario for sediment size. Assume that bed load (sediment transport by rolling and sliding along the bed) is 20% of suspended load.

Calculate the time it will take to fill 20%, 50%, 80% and 100% of the reservoir volume for the three postulated scenarios of sediment yield.
