CIV E 632 - COMPUTATIONAL HYDRAULICS AND HYDROLOGY
SPRING 2008
HOMEWORK No. 1
- Calculate the celerity functions of the dynamic wave.
- Use dimensionless wavenumbers varying smoothly between 0.01 and 1000.
- Use Froude numbers of 0.01, 0.02, 0.04, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 1, 2, 4, and 10.
- Plot dimensionless relative wave celerity vs dimensionless wavenumber for the chosen set of Froude numbers.
Use logarithmic scales.
- For Froude numbers of 0.01, 0.02, 0.04, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 1.0,
determine the dimensionless wavenumbers for which the relative celerity is
1% is more than the Seddon speed.
- For Froude numbers of 0.01, 0.02, 0.04, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 1.0, determine the dimensionless wavenumbers
for which the relative celerity is 1% less than the Lagrange speed.
